Position Overview

The role of Export Manager is a critical role for the growth of Hotaling & Co.

As a leading importer and distiller in the United States, there is opportunity to grow our market share worldwide.

This growth will come from both geographical expansion into new territories and from further developing our existing markets.

The Export Manager will be responsible for maximizing our sales revenue through a network of importers, distributors and sales agents across 10-12 countries. The position will involve about 25-30% travel. The role is suited to a confident and organized sales professional, who has worked in a similar role in the Beverage alcohol industry. The territories of Canada, Australia, Japan, and a focused group of countries in Europe are the primary markets.

 

Reporting

This is a new position that reports directly into the VP of Operations.

 

Key Roles:

  • Initiate and develop constructive and effective solutions to any issues that inhibit sales & profitability.
  • Act as liaison between international agents and Operations team to ensure compliance and customs requirements are met.
  • Monitor and ensure that the all the A&P activities are carried out within the budgets and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain a profitable Duty Free business
  • Educate Distributors, Importers, Agents and accounts on Hotaling Brands
  • Develop and manage Revenue and volume goals by Brand, by Country
  • Continuously review distributor's performance and monitor their work, so that relevant information can be provided to management.
  • Work with Operations team to ensure all volume demand is communicated in advance.
  • Lead selection and contract negotiation of international partners and agents
  • Provide monthly and quarterly export business performance.
  • Collaborate with Brand Managers (internal) and International Agents (external) to ensure brand identities are maintained consistently
  • Work with Operations team to determine and align on best practices; in-bond transfers, bonded storage, duty drawback, etc.

Additional Roles:

  • Be a champion and ambassador for our Brands and Company.
  • Provide market feedback on products to brand managers and business.
  • Attend key trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Conduct research and/or leverage consultant’s research to provide updates to business.
  • Participate in company run training sessions to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Develop and evolve export strategy and plan.

Key Requirements and Skills

  • Ability to develop relationships and influence accounts
  • Minimum 5 years of experience interacting with beverage wholesalers
  • Resourceful, creative and organized with ability to manage timelines and logistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Wide product knowledge
  • Progressive Sales experience (3 years minimum)
  • A 4-year College Degree preferred
  • Direct accountability for results – goal and results oriented
  • Self-starting enthusiasm with can-do attitude
  • Passion for distilled spirits and/or alcohol industry
