EXPERIENTIAL DESIGNER – OVERVIEW:
A creative studio seeking an energetic and talented Experiential Designer who can collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and generate striking brand spaces. We are an idea and concept studio driven by ideas, not rules. The company is composed of an experienced team with a prolific history of crafting engaging experiences. We operate across the nation for museums, professional sports franchises, university sports programs, and design-oriented real estate developers. The projects often blur the lines between art, brand, space, technology, and entertainment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role focuses on delivering high concept designs and collaborating with the team to implement the design with fabrication and installation. The project work is a blend of strategy, interior design, spatial design, environmental design and digital design to create a holistic brand experience for our clients. The ideal candidate will enjoy:

  • Collaborating with a creative director to design spatial concepts from start to finish. This includes discovery, research, strategy, design, bid documentation, construction administration.
  • Integrating messaging, color, imagery, type and composition into three-dimensional built environments
  • Generating multiple initial concepts and develop viable design solutions
  • Participating constructively in creative brainstorms
  • Embracing uncertainty and thriving on exploration and problem solving
  • Collaborating with clients, design teams, and other designers across multiple industries
  • Contributing a shared passion for travel, hospitality, and lifestyle experiences to inform our work

QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. The ideal candidate will fit into one of the following categories:
  • An architectural designer who is inspired by Lebbeus Woods
  • An industrial designer who thinks about the room an object sits within
  • A graphic designer who thinks spatially
  • An exhibit designer that appreciates the permanence of architecture
  • An interior designer who enjoys storytelling

A. Education and/or Experience
  • 0-5 years of experience in the design industry
  • A portfolio that exhibits design maturity based on graphic design and/or environmental, interiors, industrial, exhibit design, architecture, and strategic thinking. It is important that you show us your process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, environmental design, interior design, architecture, or a related field
  • Experience with planning, documentation and management of environmental design, interior design, or architecture necessary

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong spatial design sensibility
  • Self-motivated
  • Hand sketching/drawing ability a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • The ability to produce client ready sketches is a plus
  • Ability to move quickly, challenge assumptions, solve problems and generate meaningful designs that respond to a host of project challenges
  • Use of SketchUp, CAD tools or other 3D modeling programs are required
  • Ability to perform insightful research to generate ideas and concepts
  • Familiarity with architectural construction documents, scales, sections, plans and elevations a plus
  • Passionate about design
