Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Experienced Supplier Quality Recovery Specialists to join our newly created Supplier Recovery team at locations in Wichita, Kansas and Los Angeles, California.

The primary function of this role will be to drive improvements in Supplier Quality performance, relating to product conformance and Quality Management System compliance, and leading corrective action initiatives as needed in order to obtain these objectives. The role reports to the BCA Supplier Quality Senior Manager of the Supplier Recovery team.

Our team members enjoy and meet the challenges of working remotely, with requirements to travel up to 75% of the time to different supplier locations. Use of a personal vehicle is required for company business; Boeing will reimburse at mileage rate, per applicable company policy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Able to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Documents and reports audit and assessment results in coordination with Regional Operations SQR for any assessments performed
  • Assist the local Regional Operations SQR to ensure supplier's Quality Management System (QMS) compliance with Boeing requirements
  • Assists with assessments of supplier capability and capacity to perform current or potential future work
  • Monitors quality improvement initiatives at supplier; develops training materials and other resources to support improvements in supplier performance and productivity
  • Ensures supplier notifications of quality escapes are processed as required; evaluates supplier Root Cause Analysis and proposed corrective action plans (RCCA) Where these affect part numbers subject to recovery
  • Report supplier's quality risks and opportunities to leadership
  • Lead “Recovery” activities at suppliers identified as needing additional support due to defects or QMS health issues
  • Ensures suppliers have proper process in place to assess and mitigate/eliminate quality risks associated with parts identified as in recovery

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in quality and/or manufacturing processes and organizations
  • Able to travel up to 75% of the time
  • 3+ years of experience with working root cause and corrective action analysis and implementation of acceptable preventative action
  • Experience with project management and project leadership
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • 3+ years of experience with monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • 3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 and AS9145
  • Knowledge of project management best practices and processes
  • Lean or lean six sigma experience (leading or co-leading teams with value stream mapping and shop floor standard work events)
  • Experience developing supplier improvement plans and strategies, providing training, and coaching
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong supplier quality development background
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, challenging environment
  • Knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
