Position Title
Executive Director of Marketing/Assistant or Associate Vice President of Marketing

Job Responsibilities
The Executive Director of Marketing, reporting to the Vice President for Student Engagement, Enrollment & Marketing, plans, implements, and assesses a comprehensive and integrated marketing strategy. The Executive Director coordinates with senior leadership and works across campus to devise strategies and implementation plans for a full range of internal and external marketing efforts that support undergraduate and graduate enrollment, alumni relations, advancement, academic/faculty excellence, student development, and internal communications. Working with the PR and publications team, the Executive Director helps establish strategies, budgets, brand building and prospective student lead generation. Salary and title commensurate with experience.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures through a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Works closely with faculty, administration and staff, students, and alumni to develop compelling, distinctive and relevant stories to illustrate and advance the University.
  • This position must work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural collaborative environment.
  • Contributes to setting the vision, strategy and long-term management approach for integrated marketing including: developing and maintaining university reputation and identity guides; brand and content strategies; and use of resources such as templates, digital monitors and environmental branding.
  • Under the direction of the Vice President and integrated working groups, is responsible for advancing the University and building its reputation across a diverse range of audiences.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement to lead integrated marketing efforts that provide high quality, distinctive products, and consistently meets service expectations of the university community with effective expertise, counsel and skills, and ability to effectively prioritize competing priorities.
  • Develops, produces and provides analysis for customized reports, dashboards and executive summaries through compelling easy to understand images, and data.
  • Oversees the planning, creation and implementation of integrated marketing strategies to support the University.
  • Recommends, directs, and analyzes market research which may include audience analysis, segmentation, and survey development to monitor and measure communications and marketing results and to ensure that goals and targets for earned, owned, shared, and paid media are achieved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; may be required to work beyond normal office hours and on weekends.
  • Working with the Web team, help direct the University’s web and digital presence to ensure brand consistency and voice and leading-edge use of technology to engage audiences and in support of institutional priorities.
  • Contributes and/or leads working groups comprising members from across the university to successfully and effectively create, implement and assess integrated marketing, content and campaign strategies, projects and initiatives. This may require direct supervision of other employees.

Required Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or other applicable field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience in the fields of communications and marketing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience of communications and/or marketing professionals including media/social media; brand marketing, content producers, writers/editors, website teams, and photographer/videographers.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of marketing research, data capture and analysis, digital media platforms, digital content and media buying.
  • Experienced content producer, editor and writer with high quality standard and familiarity with the range of content channels available to advance institutional communications and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to guide and develop advanced executive-level content, writing and multi-media presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across multiple platforms including print, digital, video, and other content- and marketing-related platforms.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others and assign, monitor and recommend staffing and resource allocation including in-source and out-sourcing, and development and management of contractors including scope of work, project management and successful implementation.
  • Proven record of effective collaboration and leadership capability.
  • Knowledge of and experience in higher education environments (academic or administrative).
  • Knowledge of communications and integrated marketing strategies and trends, including advertising, public relations, media relations, branding, print, visual and social media.
