General Statement of Duties

Oversees day-to-day operations of all services related to the grounds and buildings at Mount Wachusett Community College

Responsibilities

  • Work with College leadership to develop an overall facilities/capital plan;
  • Is "on call" 24-7 for all facilities issues including snow removal and emergencies.
  • Manage administrative tasks relative to the physical plant activity, e.g. purchasing, employee scheduling, performance evaluations, employment interviews, physical inventory, procurement and monitoring of maintenance and service contracts;
  • Plan and direct all construction, maintenance, physical improvements and preventative maintenance of the College;
  • Oversee the grounds crew including winter snow removal
  • Work with the Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) to secure funding for the College facilities;
  • Oversee the College's and mailroom functions;
  • Ensure adherence to Federal, State and local regulations and building codes;
  • Oversee hazardous waste activities and environmental compliance;

Supervision Exercised

Staff consisting of non-unit professionals and AFSCME unit members in areas of facilities management including maintainers, licensed trades workers, the Director of Maintenance & Mechanical Systems, Maintenance Supervisor, Grounds Department Supervisor, Mailroom staff.


Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Knowledge of code and compliance regulations;
  • Experience as a construction project manager;
  • Experience planning and managing operational and capital budgets;
  • Background or degree in engineering or architectures is preferable.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices as they apply to facilities management;
  • Proficiency in planning, operation and supervision of physical plant;
  • Master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and three to four years related experience both in building maintenance and construction; or Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline plus five to seven years related experience;

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Union Employees and Union Contracts;
  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Experience working with DCAMM;
  • Background or degree in Engineering or architectures;
  • MCPPO Certification;
