Title: Executive Director


Job Type: Full-Time (on-site)


Salary: $85,000


Reports To: TCATA Board of Directors


Direct Reports Include: Office Manager, Human Resources, and Operations Manager

Job Summary


The Executive Director is the leader of a group of professionals who are committed to ensuring that residents in the community have a means of transportation. The Executive Director will create an environment that encourages staff to self-improve by demonstrating leadership. The Executive Director will assist and support the TCATA Board of Directors to ensure that the proper procedures, processes, and systems are in place. The Executive Director will create the budget and oversee the proper use of government funds.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Ensure the organization is in compliance with the Federal Transportation Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation, Department of Labor, and other agencies.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Help staff understand the organization’s values and goals, and their contribution towards it.
  • Demonstrate strong fiscal management.
  • Administer and negotiate contracts with state agencies, accounting firms, and consultants.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet deadlines by preparing grants, budgets, operating statistics, reports, and cost analyses.
  • Represent the organization at community events while partnering to solve transit problems at the state or federal level.
  • Uphold excellent communication, working relationships, and personal connections with employees.
  • Supervise effective communication and coordination within all departments.
  • Implement policies and procedures to run an efficient, safe, and effective operation.
  • Manage staff and the day-to-day activities of the administration department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the TCATA Board of Directors.
  • Hold staff accountable for decisions, behaviors, and actions.
  • Serve as an advisor to the TCATA Board of Directors to benefit the organization.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other computer related systems.
  • Skill in planning, supervising, and coordinating employee activities.
  • Ability to learn various software programs.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to coordinate transit operations of a transportation system.
  • Skill in effective written and oral communication.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations in the operation of a transit system.
  • Ability to organize, meet deadlines, and prioritize.
  • Ability to define problems and develop logical solutions.


Requirements


  • Minimum of five years’ experience in transportation systems.
  • Previous experience in budget development, grant writing and administration, risk management, human resources, and transit operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Transportation.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in management.
