NAMI Central Virginia Executive Director
Position Title: Executive Director
Status: Full-time exempt
Salary and benefits: Salary commensurate with experience; health, dental and vision; generous annual leave and sick benefits
Major Function/Accountability:
NAMI Central Virginia is seeking an
experienced candidate to fill our Executive Director position. As a non-profit providing education, support, and advocacy to assist families working through difficult journeys, we are looking for passionate leadership to implement and grow our vision. The ED will work closely with the Board to provide strategic and fiscal direction, will serve as the voice of NAMI CVA, and will support our staff and volunteers. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of corporate governance principles required.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership, Advocacy, and Program Development
∙ Responsible for public affairs to increase awareness and visibility of the organization, expand membership, and attend various national and state level NAMI programming as needed
∙ Represents NAMI Central Virginia as its Executive Director in interactions with other organizations, individuals, state agencies, the General Assembly, the general public, and serves as primary spokesperson with the media
Management and Supervision
∙ In compliance with Board policy, decides all administrative and supervisory matters regarding operation and maintenance of NAMI Central Virginia while maintaining necessary documentation of the organization
∙ Leads staff and volunteers in the execution of the mission of the organization and develops an office culture that builds on collaborative problem-solving; maintains a "customer service" orientation with all involved
∙ Works with the Board and staff to develop short-term, intermediate, and long-range fundraising goals; develops strategies for achieving those goals, and cultivates all potential sources of public and private revenue
Financial Management
∙ Works with appropriate staff and Board to develop an annual budget, manages organization's resources within budgetary guidelines, and complies with state and federal financial regulations
∙ Provides reports to the Board in preparation for Board meetings, including any necessary summary financial statements and any material changes of financial situation
Miscellaneous/other requirements
∙ Hybrid office, however many duties are field based, some weekend and occasional evening.
Qualifications
∙ High degree of professionalism, self-awareness, and commitment to professional development
∙ Ability to relate and interact well with people of diverse backgrounds
∙ Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
∙ Understanding of financial management including budget oversight
∙ Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and competing priorities
∙ Nonprofit and management experience preferred
∙ Ability to focus on details while also understanding the big picture
∙ A warm, empathetic, and customer-service oriented demeanor
∙ Standard MS Office computer skills
