Executive Director - Community Health Fund - Full Time - 8 Hour - Days

The Executive Director is responsible for working closely with a Board of Directors for the John Muir Community Health Fund (CHF) that partners with and funds non-profit health and wellness organizations providing programs within central and eastern Contra Costa County communities. The CHF is recognized as a local leader in funding multi-year health initiatives and grants, dispersing a total of $1 million annually to achieve its mission of improving the health and well-being of medically uninsured and underserved populations with a focus on addressing the root causes of health disparities that include racial justice, access, and basic needs such as food security. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of community relationships and grant making efforts focused on support of partners' health initiatives. The CHF is a supporting organization to John Muir Health (JMH), a large non-profit health system that gives the CHF its community benefit mission and provides all operating and grantmaking funding as well as manages most of the CHF's financial transactions and systems.
Priority responsibilities of the Executive Director include:

• Building and maintaining deep and trusting relationships with nonprofit and community leaders engaged in promoting health and wellness in the region
• Maintaining a deep understanding of our local health and wellness needs while serving as a thought partner with community leaders seeking to meet those needs, with a focus on addressing the social determinants of health, including the deep racial disparities in access and services
• Identifying and linking the most effective nonprofit and community leaders to each other, to resources, to John Muir Health and to the CHF in order to optimize those leaders' efforts to improve the health and well-being of medically uninsured and underserved populations in our service area
• Maintaining a strong Board focused on enhancing and assessing the impact and sustainability of nonprofits carrying out health and wellness initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field - Required

• Conducting Every Aspect of a Highly Proactive Grant Program - Required

• Experienced in promoting through various media, funding initiatives.
