Job Description

As an Events Director on the Performance Marketing team, you’ll play a pivotal role by helping to develop and lead an outstanding Events team charged with enabling our planning team to deliver high-quality, independent financial education, advice and planning to everyone.


In addition to an earnest desire to help people, we are looking for the ideal candidate to complement the team’s existing talents. For this Events Director role, we are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of building a sound strategy for your program and roll up your sleeves to help with the day-to-day workings of that strategy, helping to continue to scale one of our largest drivers of potential clients. Responsibilities:

  • Help develop processes for lead tracking and return on investment measurement within Salesforce
  • Act as a bridge across departments providing clarity and communication to maintain program alignment with organizational goals
  • Play an active role in the annual planning process by researching relevant industry events, trends, demonstrating return on investment from previously run events and providing recommendations; translating business needs from multiple internal teams into a cohesive strategy
  • Supervise all aspects of our events strategy, including logistics, budgeting, vendor management, content and creative development, promotion and lead across departments and teams to implement the events strategy. Our strategy is primarily webinar focused today, this role would lead our return-to-live-events strategy and execution plan as well.
  • Improve channel findings by staying in close contact with industry forums, attending industry events, etc. to better equip internal teams for execution and identify potential partners for extended marketing initiatives
  • Provide consistent and clear communication of events programs to all collaborators in a timely manner, including briefing documents and goal setting; coordinate planning sessions with essential team members to gain input on goals and executional ideas
  • Research and identify trends, speakers, relevant topics, and opportunities with targeted audiences in mind
  • Develop and implement overall project management plan and timeline for all events, including roles and responsibilities; ensure alignment with corporate and marketing-team initiatives/goals
  • Perform quarterly reviews of the digital events program, including delivering analytical insights to optimize campaign engagement and performance
  • Evaluate, and potentially reset, our current quantitative and qualitative inputs contributing to the measurement of event efficiency that allows all teams to understand the impact of the channel.
  • Work with content strategy director and other marketing channel/program teams to ensure consistent strategy/messaging across all campaign efforts

Requirements:

  • Technical know-how to ensure a seamless live, hybrid and virtual event experience is mandatory.
  • Financial services experience a plus, but not required.
  • Approximately 10% travel annually
  • Strategic/creative problem-solving mentality
  • Familiarity with video and audio editing platforms and equipment a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively connect with internal and external collaborators
  • Expert communicator and collaborator who works across teams and departments (Creative, Communications, Field Marketing, Product Marketing, C-suite, among many others) to break down silos and calibrate expectations with executive leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of event managers and presenters, including career planning and coaching.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in webinar and live events strategy planning and execution
  • Data-driven decision making and results orientation
