The Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) is Stanford University’s thought leader for understanding the economic challenges, opportunities, and policies affecting people in the United States and around the world. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) is seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Event Planner. As the Event Planner, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and executing a wide range of events hosted by SIEPR, including various annual academic events, monthly Associates Meetings, bi-annual Policy Forums, annual Economic Summit as well as other special events.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Manage accounting operations relating to registration, including daily accounting procedures and reports, final monetary summaries, and/or account transfers.
  • Design, plan, implement, and coordinate customized events.
  • May oversee registration strategy implementation, tracking, and analysis.
  • May inspect event facilities for maintenance, janitorial and fire safety issues.
  • Utilize and/or maintain complex databases. May use specialized event planning software.
  • Inspect event facilities to ensure they conform to the event needs.
  • May serve as project leader on smaller scale events, coordinating teams that plan, implement, and manage all aspects of events or manage program elements of larger scale events.
  • Consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements.
  • Evaluate and select vendors and providers of services considering stakeholder requests and requirements.
  • Serve as a member of an events team, and contribute in a wide variety of functional areas including decisions around budget allocation, event logistics and facilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Associate degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management, and customer service skills.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Non-Commercial Class California Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Ability to lift and move smaller equipment, signage, and supplies as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during events.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a hybrid position requiring at least 3 days of onsite work per week and more as needed to meet event needs.
  • Ability to be on-site during event days, which may include early mornings and late evenings.
  • May require occasional overtime and weekends.

The expected pay range for this position is $64,480 to $83,000 per annum/hour.
