Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000

SUMMARY: The Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordination the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by clients’ documents and provides complete conceptual and total bid price.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, make and estimate.
  • Reviews construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid.
  • Executes take-offs of construction documents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
  • Inputs take-offs into a computer spreadsheet.
  • Informs his/her immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
  • Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates.
  • Create job folders.
  • Photocopies documents and plans.
  • Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Obtains pricing for materials.
  • Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
  • Obtains bids from subcontractors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction cost estimation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Computer skills required: Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Thorough attention-to-detail skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
