Job Description
At UConn Health, in Information Technology, this classification is accountable for providing supervision and oversight of the training team and user training programs; provides development, facilitation and maintenance of training materials; oversees the training environment strategy and the building, testing, and maintenance of all related training environments.

Works under the general supervision of the IT Training Director.

Leads training staff and project team members as assigned.

Schedule: 40 hrs. per wk., Mon -Fri, 7:30am - 4:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break

Examples Of Duties


  • Plans unit workflow and determines priorities; schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews work; provides technical guidance, staff training/development and assistance; conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations.
  • Works with business owners to define, plan, implement, and evaluate training; works with operational leaders to facilitate change management.
  • Leads environment strategy and the development and maintenance of the training environment(s) to support ongoing training and support needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Supports the development, management, and optimization of a Learning Management Software (LMS) system for the organization; provides system analysis and technical design in support of all ongoing Epic training programs.
  • Leads the strategic development and ongoing coordination of the training and super user programs.
  • Collaborates with application and technical teams to align training programs for the build and testing of ongoing Epic projects, including oversite of integrated test script development.
  • Stays abreast of current training trends; implements new and innovative ways to communicate changes and provide education to users.
  • Determines specialized, role-based and generic training requirements and develops a certification or assessment program; creates overall training schedules for appropriate level of training for each user; secures training facilities; ensures user training prior to accessing system.
  • Communicates with organizational leadership regarding training issues and requirements.
  • Oversees the development, maintenance, and standardization of educational materials including manuals, education updates, tip sheets, and other methods of communication/education.


Minimum Qualifications Required


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:


  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple concepts and objectives and to communicate results in clear, understandable terms.
  • Considerable educational needs assessment skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory ability to lead/coach others and communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders and caregivers.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and spelling for use in effective verbal and written communications.
  • Considerable knowledge of project management, adult education and curriculum delivery.
  • Knowledge of PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to create teaching and learning materials and documentation.
  • Considerable knowledge of clinical operations, business process workflows, and system configuration.
  • Considerable interpersonal skills.


General Experience


EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING


Eight (8) years’ experience in adult training/education, clinical systems project management or clinical systems applications. At least three (3) years of the experience must have been as Epic Principal Trainer/Instructional Designer or in adult training/education in healthcare.


Substitution


A bachelor’s degree in a relative field (healthcare/education/communications) may be substituted for four (4) years of general experience.


A master’s degree in a relative field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the general experience.


Special Requirement


Must possess and maintain during employment Epic Certification/Credentials or proficiencies as a Principal Trainer, Clinical Curriculum Track or Training Environment Build.


Other Requirements


  • May be required to work variable hours during system updates and special projects.
  • May be required to work onsite to support caregiver training needs.
