POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of application infrastructure and Wintel servers and their related environments in a large multi-location environment (more than 5,000 servers). Provides advanced support for Windows based operating systems. Responsible for Wintel Server technologies, which includes virtualization concepts and technologies such as VMware/vCenter, physical server hardware, systems management, server automation and anti-virus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identifies and assists in the resolution of issues reported by customers arising from use of application software on supported servers.
  • Applies specialized knowledge in SAN/storage technologies and infrastructure, Networking, Database Administration and Active Directory administration.
  • Recommends changes to servers and operating systems that would improve system and network performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Identifies and assists in the resolution of issues reported by customers arising from use of application software on supported servers.
  • Participates in on-call support rotation as specified by management.
  • Researches hardware and software industry trends in health care.
  • Installs, maintains, supports, upgrades and troubleshoots application and client servers and their related environments in a large multi-location environment comprised of over 5,000 servers. Provides advanced support Windows based operating systems to ensure system availability and operability.
  • Monitors all data center equipment for errors, messages, connectivity, machine failures and functionality via various commercial and proprietary monitoring applications. Ensures that corrective and preventive measures are taken as needed. Initiates problem-solving procedures according to predetermined instructions. Determines when technical assistance is needed from vendor or other resources and escalates difficult and unresolved problems to the next level of support.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
  • Responsible for networking technologies, such as, TCP/IP, DNS, WINS Subnets.
  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves moderately complex to complex problems and issues.
  • Participates in coaching and mentoring others in their work efforts. Provides guidance to others and problem resolution on highly technical or moderately complex problems and issues.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and supervisors to resolve cross-departmental problems or issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Epic Certification in Web and Server Services required before or shortly after hire.
  • Certifications include: Hyperspace, BLOB, Printing, Business Continuity Access (BCA), Hyperspace Web, Interconnect, System Pulse, MyChart, MyChart Mobile, and EpicCare-Link and Care Everywhere.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with project teams to design and implement new solutions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge with three (3) or more years of server virtualization, server automation (VMware/ vCenter, Hyper V) required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in high availability or large multi-location environment comprised of over 5,000 servers) environment supporting Windows based operating systems
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Antivirus.
  • Knowledge of server management and imaging software such as; MS-SCCM, BMC Blade Logic, Altiris and Patch Management software HP SIM/One View.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Experience supporting HP / Compaq / Dell servers.
  • Ability to remain calm, helpful, and productive in all situations.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Technical certifications or MCSE preferred.
  • Extensive experience in technical writing and an understanding of records and knowledge management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
