Job Duties
The Environmental Health Coordinator position will serve as a central office lead on food safety policy, regulatory development, and the Voluntary Retail Standards program. The incumbent will also serve as a leader in Environmental Health preparedness and response for foodborne illnesses, outbreaks, and emergencies. They interpret and apply environmental laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and serve as one of the leaders for the Food Safety program agency-wide.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge in instructional design and implementation of adult learning principles, practices, and methodologies, needs assessment and evaluation methodologies, and training administration
- Requires the ability to work effectively, ability to prepare and present concise reports, presentations and to write and speak effectively
- Considerable knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of environmental health (Food Safety; the Virginia Food Regulations or the FDA Model Food Code)
- Ability to provide effective technical consultation to the public and agency EH staff.
- Extensive knowledge of use of data, database management, data quality assurance (QA) techniques, statistical analysis, informatics methods
- Overnight travel may be required; position may be based out of any location in Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards
- Graduation from college with a degree related to the duties of the position or considerable management or technical experience in the field of food safety.
- Experience working with a collaborative capacity with the Federal Food and Drug Administration
- Experience applying or enforcing food safety regulatory requirements in a food facility
- Experience in foodborne outbreak investigation or emergency response
