Environment & Business Data Scientist - Internship

Job Duties:
Safran Helicopter Engines is the world leader helicopter engine manufacturer, with one helicopter taking off every 3 seconds in the world. Being the leader of the industry comes with environmental responsibilities towards the helicopter operators and the planet.
Therefore, Safran has taken several initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint; the Environmental & Business Data Scientist will be tasked to research, collect, analyze, and propose solutions which must result in actual carbon footprint reduction. In 2022, the Fleet Management department managed to reduce its local carbon footprint by 25% (equivalent to a Dodge RAM 1500 driving half way around the world!).
We are looking for a Data Scientist to analyze large amounts of information to find patterns that will help improve our company. We will rely on you to build data products to extract valuable insights.
Green Team Project Leadership; Join the Department green team initiative competition to create, lead and report reduced carbon footprint initiative.
Reporting directly to the Director of Customer Support, the intern will benefit guidance and coaching from the Safran board of Director and will be expected to present findings up to Executive Committee.
The intern will benefits from working with all departments; this will allows the intern to broaden its knowledge acquisition into various fields and gain sufficient experience for its professional development
Overall Duties:
Environmental:

• Designing and implementing databases that adequately address business needs
• Evaluating and documenting database changes or refinements
• Providing guidance and training for team members
• Ensuring that a company's data management protocols are in line with regulatory standards
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures for effective data handling and management
• Implement and measure and communicate carbon reduction results
• Assessing systems and recommending necessary software, hardware, and storage upgrades
• Streamlining data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics
• Applying best practices when storing, organizing, cleaning, and mining data
• The sky is the limit!
• Analyzing data for possible inconsistencies that may skew analytical results

Business:

• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
• Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
• Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
• Combine models through ensemble modeling
• Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams
• Present information using data visualization techniques

Requirements:
No experience required, we'll take care of providing you that!
Education:

• Graduate in Master's degree in Computer science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics or similar field of study
• Academic course in environment science is a plus

Knowledge & Interest:

• Knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) and data framework
• Interest or experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
• Interest or experience in data mining
• Knowledge of SQL
• Passion for developing sustainable solutions to problems is a plus
• Analytical mind and business acumen

Flexible with hours, work remotely and schedule to best fit the student summer classes
