Job Description

Entry Level Traffic Engineer
Job Purpose

DAVENPORT is looking to fill a Traffic Project Engineer position that will be

assigned to our Traffic Team. The prospective candidate would have

opportunities to work in both traffic analysis and signal design. Interested

candidates must have a willingness to perform general traffic engineering and

transportation-related tasks, supporting various project managers.

  • We are looking to fill this position in either of the following
DAVENPORT offices: Charlotte, NC; Winston Salem, NC; Raleigh, NC;
or Richmond, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performance of transportation engineering analysis, including traffic
  • Collaboration with team members and agencies

impact studies, corridor studies, capacity and safety analyses, multi-modal

operation studies, traffic simulations, and planning studies

  • Collection, organization, research, and analysis of project data
  • Assistance with signal optimization and signal design projects
  • Perform site visits and data collections
  • Preparation of technical documents and reports

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Desire to work in the traffic engineering and transportation planning field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Detail-oriented, proactive approach to tasks, highly motivated
  • Strong communication skills

PowerPoint

  • Possess or working towards obtaining the Engineer-In-Training/
Engineering Intern certification.
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and design software (HCS, Synchro,
  • Transportation engineering intern/co-op experience is a plus

TransModeler, VISSIM, ArcGIS, MicroStation) is a plus
