Job Description
Overview

About RTI
RTI International is one of the world’s leading research institutes, with a staff of more than 6,000 individuals, dedicated to improving the human condition by turning knowledge into practice. RTI’s Air Quality Engineering Group is comprised of a team of 27 scientists and engineers working in the field of air quality. For over 40 years, we have supported development of federal air quality regulations for a wide range of industries under the Clean Air Act, primarily under the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS, Part 60) and National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP, Part 63). We have also supported development of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP, Part 98) and its ongoing implementation over the last decade. Our current projects also include support for developing and implementing a state-only program to reduce emissions of air toxics and a project to support management of a federal grant program for monitoring air pollution in highly impacted communities. All of the projects in our Air Quality Engineering Group seek to improve the human condition by reducing human exposure and environmental impacts of air contaminants.

We are currently seeking an entry level air quality Engineer to join the Air Quality Engineering Group. The successful candidate will provide technical program support for government clients including the U.S. EPA’s Sector Policies and Programs Division (SPPD) and Climate Change Division (CCD). Primary duties will include developing emission inventories, preparing technical analyses and memoranda related to emissions and associated air pollution control devices. These duties will directly support developing and amending air quality regulations (NSPS and NESHAP) and the implementation of the GHGRP. Project work may also include supporting EPA Regional Offices and state air toxics programs.

The successful entry level candidate will work under the advisement of project managers and senior leadership to develop high quality work products for our government clients. Entry level candidates will be expected to take ownership of their tasks, demonstrate initiative, perform critical thinking, recognize when to seek guidance, and deliver their work products on time and within budget.

Successful candidates will have the flexibility to work in-person or elect to continue as a part-time or full-time teleworker.
