THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our engineering team is growing and we will be adding Engineering Managers to lead our Internal Tools and Downballot teams. As an organization that processes millions in contributions a day for thousands of campaigns and organizations, the Internal Tools team is critical in ensuring we have reliable and efficient internal workflows that can serve the complex needs of our users at scale. Our Downballot team will be at the forefront of driving our product strategy and will lead a newly formed team of software engineers in serving the unique needs of state and local campaigns in our communities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Identify and mitigate issues, risks, and barriers to inclusive, successful engineering practices.
  • Internal Tools: Scale and manage one or two of our existing engineering teams responsible for payments product initiatives and internal tooling.
  • Promote strong and transparent communication channels both internally and with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and excellence. Cultivate a healthy, transparent, and collaborative remote-fist culture rooted in psychological safety.
  • Downballot: Lay the foundation for a new team. Recruit, support and mentor a team of three to four software engineers.
  • Facilitate technical decision making with an emphasis on maintainability, scalability, and performance for complex workflows that align with best practices, software development methodologies, and coding standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, encouraging professional development through regular feedback and growth opportunities
  • Oversee the end-to-end software development process while championing a user-centric approach to iterate and improve on product features.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand unique user needs.
  • Partner heavily with product, design, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive the team's vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap. Translate business goals into actionable plans.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • People management experience: 3-5+ years of experience supporting a team of individual contributors at multiple levels.
  • Prior experience starting and leading new engineering teams with a focus on building user-centric product.
  • Strong communication skills with a team-centric and remote-reliant approach to discussion and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and fostering a strong sense of belonging on teams.
  • A successful track record recruiting, retaining, and growing engineering teams.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and consensus across teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in providing project management and organizational support on complex technical projects end to end

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE…

  • Background or experience in electoral politics and/or the political technology space
  • Previous experience in payments, b2b, and/or two-sided marketplaces
  • Previous experience working with Ruby on Rails and React

LOCATION AND COMPENSATION:

This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. ATS is currently authorized to support remote work employees in California, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin.

Salary Range Details:

Salary Range: $174,000 - $190,000

ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
