Description

About the Position

  • Are you seeking complex urban and rural public improvement projects while working for a county that is larger than two US states?
  • Are you a skilled drafter/designer seeking a team-based, supportive environment that emphasizes professional development and support for growing your career?
  • Are you seeking to be part of one of the most professional and advanced engineering teams in the region?

Lane County’s Engineering & Construction Services (ECS) Division currently has two openings on our Design Engineering Team. Successful applicants will draft and design capital improvement (primarily road and culvert) projects that may also include working with partners and consultants. We actively partner with the US Forest Service, Federal Highway Administration, Oregon Department of Transportation, multiple watershed councils and local cities.

NOTE: These positions do NOT require a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Engineering Intern license, but would include a 5% pay differential if you have an Oregon registered P.E. or a 3% pay differential if you have an Engineering Intern (EIT, EI, ET) registration.

Capital Improvement Plan (CIP): Our CIP includes years of exciting opportunities to manage and design projects that include major roadways and intersections, fish passage culverts using the latest stream simulation techniques, stormwater and water quality facilities, drinking water and wastewater projects, ADA design, as well as environmental feasibility assessments, specifications, plans designed with Civil3D, and detailed cost estimates. The Design Team also provides engineering design services for small municipalities in the area that have projects beyond their capacity or capability. The successful applicants will also bring excellent communication skills for building relationships with the public, as well as teamwork between Transportation Planning, Design, Survey, Construction, Traffic Operations, Road & Bridge Maintenance and Land Management.

Lane County, Oregon, stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the crest of the Cascade Mountains, offering some of the most beautiful field-working conditions in the United States. Excellent career growth and advancement opportunities, as well as excellent benefits focused on your health and well-being, make Lane County your next choice for your engineering career.

Engineering - Responsibilities will generally include; conducting special studies, analyses and evaluation of transportation issues and quality assurance programs; reviewing plans and permit issues for development; designing and inspecting infrastructure enhancements; designing, inspecting and implementing water quality and other natural resource related projects; reviewing engineering plans and specifications; coordinating services with other agencies and departments; and overseeing assigned engineering projects.

About The Division

The Engineering & Construction Services Division responsibilities include planning, designing and constructing safe and efficient transportation systems for Lane County. The Division also provides high quality and comprehensive engineering and construction services to other County Departments and external public agency clients that manage, maintain, and plan public improvement programs and projects. Our mission is to provide these important services for the benefit of citizens, businesses, industries, and visitors to Lane County.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with a 1/2 hour lunch. (Adjustments may be discussed).
