Job Description
We are Mitsubishi Motors R & D of America, Inc. (MRDA). We provide research, design input and testing for Mitsubishi brand vehicles sold in the United States. The Engineer, Validation is responsible for performing vehicle level subjective and objective validation. The l validation responsibilities include both electrical and vehicle evaluations: Electrical Body Electronics and Active Safety (ADAS), Engine control, Telematics and Infotainment; Vehicle - Competitor Assessment, Vehicle Confirmation (Hot/ Cold Testing), Ride and Handling Performance, and Mileage Accumulation. Act as the voice of the US customer. Also, will include conducting research on market trends, benchmarking competitors, attending conferences, making conclusions, and presenting recommendations for future vehicle changes. Perform all other departmental duties, as directed, or assigned.


Essential Functions:
  • Perform vehicle benchmarking and provide recommendations for future Mitsubishi vehicles
  • Generate metrics and reports to monitor project status.
  • Attend meeting and maintain meeting minutes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using test set-up
  • Work with automotive suppliers in the testing of hardware and software
  • Setup test infrastructure at vehicle and bench level.
  • Interface with a variety of groups including systems engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering, software engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and sales.
  • Perform software updates on DUT (Devices Under Test) as needed
  • Ensure status and communication reports are detailed, comprehensive and accurate.
  • Investigate field issues
  • Perform tasks assigned by the lead engineer or the manager
  • Perform all necessary testing activities within assigned projects
  • Research, development, and testing of vehicle electronics / vehicle systems confirmation of all Mitsubishi vehicles as well as designated vehicles in the NAFTA market.
  • Report and log issues, including track files and necessary steps to recreate
  • Perform ECU test activities at bench and vehicle level and provide results to stakeholders for review
  • Perform road testing when needed
  • Travel domestically/internationally when needed to perform testing, investigate field issues, or attend conferences/meetings

Qualifications:
  • Must be willing to work over 40 hours on nights and weekends at different environmental conditions (e.g. Sunny, Cold, Snow, Rain, etc..) when required
  • Must be willing to travel domestic/international locations to support internal and external customers and vehicle tests
  • 3+ years of automotive systems validation engineering experience.
  • Able to multitask to meet project timing (time management skills)
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record, also a CPG facility driver’s license. Should possess excellent driving skills.
  • Experience in writing detailed, comprehensive, and accurate test results reports
  • Able to debug vehicle issues and set up the test vehicle
  • Experience with CAN bus tools
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. 6 years of related experience may be substituted for required degree.
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostic tools
  • Good communication skills within the team, internal & external customers a must
  • Able to work in a regional and global team environment and be flexible with changing priorities

Preferred experience:

  • In several of these disciplines: Body Electronics, Telematics, Multimedia, Navigation, and Active Safety (ADAS)); Competitor Assessment, Vehicle Confirmation (Hot/ Cold Testing), Ride and Handling Performance, and Mileage Accumulation (on-site training will be provided for disciplines where candidate has limited exposure)
