What To Expect
Disclaimer: This posting is for both the Spring and/or Summer terms. Please accurately state your availability when applying. The Spring Internship is expected to start around January 2024 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2024). The Summer Internship is expected to start around May 2024 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August 2024). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.

  • What You’ll Do

    Energy | Installation Process Engineering
  • Tesla is currently seeking a motivated and hands on engineer who will take part in driving process standardization and improvements for the installation process of energy products. The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile, and highly motivated team to accomplish ambitious projects. The candidate takes pride in their thoroughness, analytical ability, collaboration skills, and their tendency to think outside of the box. A successful applicant will have the ability to quantify ambiguous problems to drive quick, data-based decisions. This team is responsible for defining the standard process for installation of various energy products while bringing clarity to the reasons for any deviation from this standard process, as well as continuous improvement to the process with the goal of increasing our installation capacity as our product demand grows. This will involve work in the field at our installation sites, hands on time trials, creating work instructions and much collaboration with other groups such as operations, field applications, tooling, hardware design, system design, survey, warehousing, supply chain, finance, etc.

  • What You’ll Bring
    Pursuing a BS/MS degree in computer science or other engineering disciplines.
    Energy | Installation Process Engineering
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiency improvement and work with supporting teams to prioritize theopportunities and execute
  • Plan and execute time trials to study potential areas for process improvements
  • Analyze and organize data to drive business decisions and clearly communicate with leadership
  • Create and maintain process standardization documentation
  • Work alongside operations and other supporting groups to ensure process changes are successfullylaunched and implemented
  • Help establish meaningful KPIs to track productivity metrics and use these to drive decisions
  • In-take and implement improvement ideas from installation crews in the field
  • Understand how upstream processes may impact installation process and create a feedback loop forescalating issues
  • Experience in quantitatively solving ambiguous problems at a systems level
  • Extensive detailed analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
  • Energy | Product Program
  • Understand markets, competition, and user requirements in depth.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of hardware engineers, application/UI software engineers, QA/validation, and designers.
  • Engineering background; software, firmware, or system testing experience preferred.

  • Expected Compensation
    $20.00 - $60.00 + benefits
    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
