The primary mission of the Energy Engineer is the development of Lighting and Mechanical efficiency solutions for commercial building owners. Based in Ohio, the Energy Engineer works closely with Business Development Executives to ensure high customer satisfaction in the identification and proposal of turnkey electrical and mechanical retrofit projects. You will also be responsible for initial energy audits of facilities, creation of scopes of work that will be used in sales proposals, development of accurate project costs and savings, assisting in closing of sales opportunities, working with local utilities/governments on energy rebates and grants, and participating in the project management of the identified scopes of work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Audit existing Lighting systems and/or HVAC, Building Automation Systems.
  • Ability to create and revise project scopes to conform to ROI and Payback criteria that will meet client, utility and sales requirements.
  • Identify potential efficiency solutions, and develop the conceptual design and potential economics of the efficiency solutions to be used in an initial proposal.
  • Work with sales executives and project managers in a team environment to create value for customers.
  • Ability to identify comprehensive projects, (lighting, mechanical, gas, controls, etc.), and bring in necessary resources to develop a comprehensive project, and present to clients technical assessment reports.
  • Work with utility on all facets of ensuring project conforms and fully qualifies for incentives.
  • Ability to develop mechanical designs and specifications that form the basis for placing purchase orders for equipment and contracts for installation of the equipment and systems.
  • Ability to develop savings calculations that satisfy utility engineering review criteria to qualify for utility incentives.
  • Work with lighting and mechanical contractors for pricing, as well as coordinate contractor walk-throughs at customer sites.
  • Use a detail-oriented approach to evaluate sales opportunities and adjust as needed to customer needs.
  • Perform energy audits, review building drawings, and develop the design and economics of the efficiency solutions to form the basis for a design/build firm price proposal.


Qualifications

  • General knowledge of MEP contracting and construction management processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lighting design and/or HVAC system design and/or BAS efficiency control strategies
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 2+ years' experience performing energy audits


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in turn-key energy project development, implementation, and project management
  • Masters degree in Renewable and Clean Energy Engineering.
