Responsibilities:
Rail Operations
- Track rail performance KPIs
- Identify and Communicate railroad delays to internal stakeholders, provide interventions and risk mitigation.
- The Logistics Rail Specialist is project oriented and is responsible to coordinate the timely and accurate development/execution of projects plans to ensure the completion of key milestones/objectives, to minimize logistics and operational risks, to enhance competitive advantage and to meet expectations while meeting Nevada Gold Mines internal standards and requirements.

Rail Project Planning
- Report Project status and risk to stakeholders and senior leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned by Logistics Manager
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills required Ability to manage self, time, and projects
- Support the continuous improvement and execution of Barrick’s sourcing strategy, policies, and guidelines for service categories and contracts; is a participant in the development of value-added service for SCM customers, cost savings, and other performance metrics.
- Acquire services, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution, and quality conditions
- Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Coordinate and communicate with Logistics project stakeholders
- Demonstrate social awareness, commitment, and compliance with Barrick’s Social Responsibility Policy, always showing a socially responsible behavior with the Community and with the Company
- Coordinating internal resources and vendors for the flawless execution of projects
Duties:
- Creation and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Assist in fleet sizing based on changing business needs and railroad service levels.
- Lead relationships with North American railcar lessors to maximize value and utilization of railcars that can be optimized across multiple products and bp businesses while enabling both short-term and long-term business development.
- Daily management and coordination of rail delivery projects
- Provide subject matter expertise to Nevada Gold Mines entities to support rail business development, improve rail service, and reduce rail related costs (freight rates, storage, demurrage, empty freight, railcar subleasing)
- Works closely with customers, suppliers, railroads, internal teams, and stakeholders to assure efficient and effective execution of defined processes.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal business leaders and stakeholders to enable growth in rail shipments and develop spot opportunities into long term business
- Assist with rail planning functions of the Department, including developing and managing rail agreements.
- Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Rail Logistics Specialist is responsible for the following:
- Assist in freight rate negotiations, contracts, projects, and service issues
- Route freight as needed to meet demands and minimize costs.
- Creation and presentation of Business Review's for clients as needed
- This position encompasses the coordination of rail shipments by supporting both external and internal stakeholders, ensuring the timely completion of projects and asset delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting OR related field or equivalent experience required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience directly related to the transportation and/or rail industry or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio required.
