CLASSIFICATION: ADMINISTRATIVE

JOB TITLE: ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ELEMENTARY - CHANDLER ONLINE ACADEMY

CALENDAR: 12 MONTH CALENDAR

RANGE: ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE


Job Goal

The Assistant Principal of Chandler Online Academy works cooperatively with the Director of Chandler Online Academy to oversees the development and facilitation of online programming for grades K-6.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to flex schedule based on the needs of students enrolled
  • Demonstrated classroom teaching ability in grade K-6
  • Master’s Degree and Administrative Coursework in Education related field is desired
  • Knowledge of state standards and researched-based instruction

Core Job Functions


District responsibilities

  • Support teachers in implementing both print and digital curriculum.
  • Perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
  • Assist with content, instruction, and assessment capacity at school sites
  • Work closely with instructional services departments to actively seek out, develop and implement new and promising best practices and/or programs
  • Develop and promote Chandler Online Academy programming to include K-6 Programming.
  • Review and evaluate programs assigned on a regular basis and measure their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Keep abreast of current research related to curriculum development and instructional strategies
  • Frequent and ongoing communication with at risk students.
  • Utilize curriculum and instructional expertise as well as professional development leadership to achieve goals of the District strategic plan
  • Oversee classroom instruction, grading, and progress.
  • Foster and Implement both on-site and off-site learning experiences for K-6 programming
  • Be directly responsible to the appropriate administrator.
  • Develop and instruct professional development classes
  • Analyze assessment to assist with program, site or district improvement
  • Model, demonstrate and facilitate appropriate use of technology that assists teachers with moving their instructional practices forward in order to support 21st century skills in the classroom
  • Perform in other areas of responsibility as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Develop methods to promote teacher collaboration on skills, curriculum or projects that support 21st century skills in the classroom
  • Model research-based instructional techniques and strategies in the classroom as well as during professional development
  • Evaluate online instructors annually.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with online instructors.
  • Communicate effectively between district, sites and grade/content levels
  • Coordinate with District Marketing to Promote Chandler Online (K-12)

Leadership

  • Promote positive action toward the realization of school goals through efficient procedures.
  • Effectively communicate to staff to keep them informed of policy changes, new programs, areas for improvement and recognition of exceptional performance.
  • Supervise in compliance with District policies all staff for which he/she has responsibility.
  • Interpret, implement and enforce board policy and administrative regulations.

Student Achievement

  • Utilize pertinent sources of information, e.g., surveys, test scores, etc. to determine the effectiveness of the instructional program and to lead staff in making changes when needed.
  • Provide maximum opportunity for each student to benefit from resources.
  • Establish and maintain programs to support students who have not mastered state standards, e.g. tutoring.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper attendance of all students.
  • Provide support services to those students requiring special attention.
  • Maintain required formal evaluation procedures, ensuring quality instruction through thorough evaluation and improvement plans for appropriate staff.
  • Maintain responsibility for the development of the instructional program and monitoring its effectiveness.
