Federal Signal in University Park is a leading manufacturer and supplier of comprehensive systems and products used to protect people and property. Electronic Production Tester perform duties of testing boards using various test equipment such as but not limited to: Go/No Go testing, manual test fixtures, Embedded controller based automatic test fixtures, lab view based test fixtures can all be utilized to determine functional serviceability of PCB assemblies. Setup, replenish and operate all conformal coat machines and related equipment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble thru hole PCB, repair easily identifiable solder shorts/voids.
  • Use several different programmers to program PCB assemblies during test.
  • Call attention to excessive or recurring defects and notify line operator, ME, and supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.
  • Responsible for communicating the delivery status of tested boards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use hand tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and other precision electronic instruments.
  • Conduct operational tests on tuned circuits, observe wave and phase patterns, make tuning adjustments to frequency and gain, and any other specifications.
  • Analyze results of automated test fixtures to determine status of PCB assemblies.
  • Works from test procedures, shop aids, and work instructions.
  • Must be able to identify incorrect configurations, work as a liaison between different shifts and grade level of techs to help inspect and identify repairs needed for special configured boards to meet required specifications.
  • Log and record work, identifying quantity and type of defects.
  • Visual inspections of polarity, solderability, and conformance to specifications must be performed at this point. Once status has been determined, tag as functional or defective PCB and locate in the proper holding area.
  • Must be able to interpret and understand different board configurations as designed.
  • Follow safety rules, ESD guidelines, and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
