Job Description

Role Description:

The Electrical Systems Owner (ESO) is responsible for the Site Electrical Key Element Assessment (KEA) Program. The Site Electrical System Support (ESS) role supports the ESO in completion of Site Electrical KEA follow-up and ensuring solid electrical safety systems, electrical skills, and maintenance systems are in place for the site.

  • This includes personnel electrical safety, design & construction, and operation & maintenance of electrical installations. Electrical systems include all areas of the site from the utility service point down to the level where the electrical system is a hazard (typically 50 volts).
  • Safety system ownership that supports capability building and training so that the ESS can seamlessly transition to ESO when the need arises.
  • This includes medium and low voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, protective relays, generators, transformers, power distribution panels, motor control centers, panel boards, power & control panels, battery charging for switch gear and lift trucks. This also includes, power tools, and personal protective equipment.

Representative Role Responsibilities:

Design & Construct

  • Works with engineering during feasibility studies to provide capacities, limitations, direction etc. for power additions
  • Inspects changes to electrical systems to verify the change requirements are met.
  • Responsible to ensure equipment safety arc flash labeling are up to standards
  • Responsible to ensure manufacturers Product Safety Advisories are communicated, implemented, and supervised.
  • Supports power system upgrade projects in a delivery capacity
  • Reviews proposed changes to electrical systems. Provides Risk Review input and requirements to meet applicable codes, laws, and P&G Global requirements
  • Supports keeping single line drawings, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and flash hazard studies up to date.

Maintenance

  • Responds to power system emergencies
  • Note, departments own these responsibilities for equipment within their operation.
  • Supports testing and inspection of power system devices and equipment occurs using correct procedures & frequency.
  • Supports correcting deficiencies or failures.
  • Participates in the planning, execution, and follow up for work done during electrical outages.

    • This typically includes one holiday power outage each year, subject to change based on business need

  • Supports equipment maintenance and repair, along with test and inspection records.
  • ESO and ESS oversee maintenance, solving, and repair of power systems.

    • Note, departments own these responsibilities for equipment within their operation.

Personal Electrical Safety

  • Supports energized electrical work permits at the site, per P&G CBA 8015
  • Reviews and helps updates Site Electrical Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s) as needed
  • Participates in the investigation of electrical incidents for technical correctness, systemic follow-up, and corporate reporting
  • Supports annual Low and Medium voltage electrical safety training content and compliance
  • Supports contractor electrical safety requirements are met per P&G CBA 8017
  • Works with ESO to ensure maintenance procedures are created / update
  • Supports electrical safety training and qualification, per P&G Global Electrical Current Best Approach (CBA) 8016.
  • Supports the ESO in the overall responsible for the electrical safety program at the site
  • Supports the selection and inspection / testing programs for tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) used for work on electrical systems.
  • Supports Site Electrical Basic Awareness training as necessary

Organizational & Other

  • Additional project and electrical support as needed by business
  • Maintains calibration across site for electrical safety peer review & qualification process
  • Supports department Electrical System Owners/TSG on Site Electrical KEA responsibilities in their area
  • Serves as the secondary contact for the electric utility company concerning electrical safety, utility reliability, outages, maintenance, etc.
  • Supports Site Electrical KEA audits and legal compliance audits
  • Provides training to engineering as necessary to ensure equipment design & construction requirements are met
  • Supports ESO in developing and qualifying new medium voltage (MV) resources in all areas across the site

Safety Expectations during role

  • Complete Global Electrical Safety Seminar (GESS) training and pass knowledge check
  • Injury free during role
  • 100% safety expectations for monthly peer observations and OSHA safety training
  • Complete Medium Voltage training and step-up card w/ peer review.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria & Role Requirements:

To be considered for this role, interested individuals MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to set expectations with team members and hold accountable for results
  • Demonstrated electrical safety skills
  • Can read and interpret power single line drawings, short circuit / coordination studies, and flash hazard studies.
  • Candidate must have practical experience and knowledge of the power systems, National Electric Code, design and construction standards, electrical safe practices / procedures, and testing / inspection requirements
  • Experience in power delivery equipment ratings, construction, maintenance, and equipment commissioning
  • Demonstrated ability to train/coach/provide effective feedback
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow-through (self-starter and self-managed)
  • Demonstrated constructive conflict resolution skills
  • Minimum 1-5 years of experience working in electrical power systems, up to and including 13.8KV
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Word and Excel

Starting Salary Range: $61,500 – $85,300

Compensation for roles at P&G varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience.
