Position Summary – Electrical Special Systems Estimator
This role participates in all aspects of the preconstruction/estimating/bid process for electrical systems. This incorporates review of plans/specs to soliciting/negotiating prices from contractors and suppliers through completion of bid/estimating effort, including closeout. The estimator performs Trade Partner scoping, pricing, quantity take-offs, and bidding of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities

• Participate in internal estimate review process and assist with final assembly of estimate for presentation
• Develop/maintain relationships with internal clients and subcontractors/vendors, occasionally attending industry events to represent McCarthy
• Utilize current technology to enhance provided services on hard bid and negotiated projects
• Strong work ethic and core values.

• Develop/document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities, applying these assumptions to takeoff tasks
• Assist field operations with change order pricing
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers and coordinate scopes of work with architectural/structural/electrical scope
• Conduct reviews of milestone documents to identify changes in work scope and develop pricing of value alternative opportunities
• Prepare budget comparisons between current/previous estimates
• Attends industry events and represents McCarthy to the industry in a professional capacity.
• Maintain current, working knowledge of Electrical codes
• Solicit subcontractors during the bidding process
• Communicate with project leads to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
• Perform quantity take-off and pricing of electrical estimates
• Collect/organize all bid information for input into historical cost database platform

Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Construction project management experience preferred
• Proven experience estimating large projects preferred
• General knowledge of electrical and/or special systems
• 5+ years experience in preconstruction or estimating and/or Bachelor's degree/certification in related field preferred
• General knowledge of different contractual delivery methods (negotiated/hard bids, design assist, GMP processes)
• General knowledge of construction principles/process
