Job Description
What to Expect
Join Tesla in creating robust, beautiful, data-centric automated machines. As an Engineering Technician, you will work alongside engineers to develop testing equipment for all power electronics components in our vehicles - such as, drive units, inverters, and both on and off board charging systems. Including, residential and energy products such as Powerwall, Megapack and vehicle battery products. This team specifically develops custom, high-power, automated testing equipment for our production lines around the world.
What You’ll Do
  • Fixture and frame assembly (Aluminum extrusions, 80/20)
  • Interact with various mechanical, electrical, and software engineers throughout project
  • Pickup packages, and support delivery of testing equipment to contract manufacturers
  • Generate aesthetically simple looking wire routing and builds
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development
  • Modify electrical enclosures and panels (drilling and cutting)
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience with fixture assemblies
  • Must be able to solder and crimp both large and small components
  • 2+ years hands-on experience building/wiring up various hardware
  • Exposure to a variety of mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment
  • Must have experience using multi-meters
  • Ability to use basic shop tools required (drill press, band saw, etc…)
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings
  • Must be comfortable around High Voltage
  • Experience with cable management and wire routing a plus
