Job Description

Job Summary:

RPC is working an exclusive search for our NYSE-listed Client seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to become an integral part of the product development team, responsible for ensuring production flow continues smoothly by designing and developing test fixtures, PCBAs and other electronic systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem solving, possess a wide variety of developing engineering and people skills, and be ready to become an expert in all aspects of electronic product design and production.

The Client engineering team develops next-generation technologies that enable farmers, scientists and environmental engineers to utilize drone systems to monitor agriculture, vegetation, protected ecosystems and sensitive ecological sites. As a member of the team, you will support design, development and validation of electronics hardware for next generation imaging systems. Team members see their designs come to life and put them into production in rapid product development cycles.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all phases of new product introduction, including concept, architecture documentation, design, prototype, testing, supplier interfaces, manufacturing, and service support
  • Design and implement software tools to facilitate automated production and test of hardware products
  • Participate in testing of products for EMI/EMC compliance and develop mitigation strategies
  • Support the development and production teams in troubleshooting tasks
  • Select electronic components while trading between price, performance, and supply chain
  • Work with senior engineers to develop and document architectures and to perform electronics design, schematic capture, and PCB layout
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate new PCBAs and resolve issues with existing designs


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with documentation and version control methods for managing projects
  • Working knowledge of use of single board computers, such as the Raspberry Pi
  • Motivated to take ownership of a project and see it through with minimal oversight
  • Familiarity with designing, prototyping, and validating PCBAs
  • Experience with a scripting language such as Matlab, Python, or similar
  • 3-5 years of applicable engineering experience
  • A passion for problem solving and understanding how things work
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • First-hand experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium a plus)
  • Comfortable working hands-on with hardware, and using electronic test equipment (multi-meter, oscilloscope, power supply, soldering)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical component design and 3D printing techniques
  • FPGA design experience (Verilog or VHDL)
  • Experience with C and C++ on embedded systems
  • Experience designing testing systems to validate production PCBAs and electronic products
