Project Manager / Engineer Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer

TMS is a 30 year old company based in Portland, Oregon specializing in design, build and installation of custom control and automation solutions for marine and industrial applications.

Our projects vary from propulsion control, power plant automation, shipboard communication, remote access, customized software and hardware, panel design, fabrication, HMI applications and consulting engineering.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop system design concepts and assist with development of proposals that include conceptual designs, descriptions, bills of materials, and proposal pricing.

• Project management for all phases of projects including proposal, design, regulatory submittal, installation, commissioning, post installation support.

• Programming and testing PLC's, drives, software and end devices.

• Install, commission and integrate our systems on customer’s vessels

• Provide training to customers on troubleshooting, maintenance and operation

• Write operating instructions and other technical documents.

• Provide technical support to customer via phone and email.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Work experience at a sufficiently advanced level may be acceptable in lieu of a degree

• Three to five years relevant experience in automation, control system design and implementation in the maritime industry, MSC. MARAD, NAVY or Coast Guard

• Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.

• A high degree of professionalism with an ability to work well independently and effectively with others.

• Strong project management and technical support skills.

• Ability to program and modify Siemens, GE, Yokogawa devices, (PLC, servo drives, touch panels, HMI, programs).

• A strong working knowledge of PLC hardware and software, control network design, electrical drive controls, SCADA system architecture and implementation

• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings /schematics

• Personable, punctual, dependable, with a high level of personal integrity

• Valid driver's license

• Marine background a big plus!

Physical demands: ability to travel, lifting, standing, kneeling, crouching, carrying and using tools and equipment to job site for installation/service work. Background check will be required
