Job Description
Main responsibilities
  • Approve design plans of less experienced engineers
  • Compose project manuals and other documentation
  • Execute projects per contract, and submit engineering change requests when necessary
  • Coordinate with shop to resolve assembly/manufacturing issues
  • Ensure timely feedback to sales
  • Communicate effectively with customer
  • Review/check project manuals and documentation
  • Compose design plans for assigned designers
  • Approves transmitting of documents
  • Makes decisions independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ensure timely feedback to product line management
  • Technically audit quotes from suppliers
  • Learn and follow all ISO processes and procedures
  • Estimate durations of work to be completed
  • Analyze and solve technical problems and provide solutions that can be
  • Report status on activities, tasks, projects, and goals
  • Create/review HMI programming to suit project requirements
  • Assist with field commissioning and site follow-up
  • Create and improve calculation tools
  • Design projects to budget (material/hours)
  • Log project communication per company
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
  • Follow-up on activities/tasks you assign to others
  • Compose technical specifications for equipment
  • Review requisition packages of designers before issuing
  • Provide technical direction to assigned designers
  • Lead design reviews (internal and external)
  • Develop budget (material/hours) for projects
  • Coordinate with field services to resolve field issues
  • Communicate effectively within a project team across multiple disciplines
  • Plan/schedule tasks to be completed
  • Coordinate with purchasing to resolve technical issues
  • Compose project drawing and document lists
  • Size and select electrical engineering components
  • Own the inputs to your work
  • Check calculations of less experienced engineers
  • Create requisition packages for procurement
  • Ensure the quality of electrical drawings and engineering are in accordance with design and company standards
  • Travel - domestically
  • Review/create process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) and logic
  • Creates functional descriptions for outside programming
  • Complete material and energy balances
  • Approve component selections of less experienced engineers
  • Complete electrical engineering calculations using tools provided
  • Participate in client and vendor meetings, create meeting minutes and action item lists
  • Create single line diagrams, motor control schematics, power control, schematics, electrical cabinet detail design, electrical device lists, to/from wire lists, conduit layouts, and cable tray layouts
  • Create/review PLC programming to suit equipment functionality
  • Review/maintain scope of supply and scope of work for project
  • Complete assigned tasks on schedule
Profile
Experience & Requirements
  • Has general knowledge of the steel and/or furnace industry
  • 4 plus years of experience
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel
  • Completes tasks on time and within budget
  • Is detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Has ability to work independently and oversee the work of others
  • Participates in and is interested in continuous improvement and sharing of experience/knowledge with other group members
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk, Inventor, AutoCAD P&ID, Autodesk Plant
  • Is able to effectively read and understand engineering drawings
