Job Description
Summary:
This position performs under the physician’s clinical supervision and assists in the delivery of patient care and treatment.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience and/or training in assisting with EEG testing and procedures as directed by a physician required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care facility preferred.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • R.EEG.T (Registered Encephalographic Technologist) Credential through ABRET (Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation) preferred.
  • Current RQI Provider CPR preferred or must successfully obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Enrollment in a Neuro Diagnostic Development Program within six (6) months of hire required.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred. Possess ability to maintain records, interpret and record data preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • National certification through ABRET within twelve (12) months of completion of program required.
Job Specific Duties:
  • Data enters physician-approved orders for neuro diagnostic testing in EMR per department protocol.
  • Accurately and timely prepares reports from testing for physician review.
  • Provides administrative support to assigned area(s).
  • Maintains and troubleshoots EEG equipment and notifies leadership as appropriate.
  • Incorporates population specific needs into all aspects of communication and patient care per department protocol.
  • Performs noninvasive neurological tests on patients utilizing a variety of equipment and as directed by physicians for assigned area(s).
  • Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient.
  • Measures and marks areas of the body to place electrodes. Prepares monitoring equipment and places electrodes appropriately.
  • Works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff and other departments to meet the physical, psychosocial, education and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
  • Participates in process improvement and/or risk related departmental activities.
