Position Description
The Editorial Director will help shape podcast programs in a fast-paced and growing department. The Editorial Director will direct and oversee production of podcast programs for health care professional audiences. This role will oversee all aspects of creation and publication from inception to publication. Editorial Directors are responsible for recruiting contributors with appropriate medical expertise, planning series topics and episode outlines with recruited hosts, attending and facilitating episode recordings, editing recordings, and ensuring accurate completion of all publication steps.
A background in medical/health publishing, strong verbal and written communication skills, and proven operational and organizational skills including ability to balance competing priorities are required. Experience with podcasts is strongly preferred.
Editorial Directors must be able to ensure podcasts follow best practices for In Discussion, are valuable for the audience, are true to our band's mission and values, and build on our leadership in health and medical information worldwide.
Roles And Responsibilities

• Identify and recruit program guests with appropriate expertise in condition and subject
• Oversee post-production program editing
• Work with host and guests to develop outline for each program
• Adhere to defined timeline from program start work to launch of each episode
• Oversee landing page elements
• Devise content plans with hosts across a range of medical topics and specialties
• Attend recordings and provide guidance as needed
• Identify and recruit prospective hosts based on expertise in medical subject area and similar experience

Required Skills
Appropriate Work Experience

• Podcast experience helpful
• Minimum 5 years' experience in medical digital publishing
• Ability to work under deadline
• Highly detail oriented, organized, and self-starter

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or a similar field preferred or equivalent years of editing related experience
