Job Description


We are seeking a talented Editor for an exciting year long project working with a well known Agency in the Washington DC Metro Area


• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or a related field.

• Minimum of ten years of professional copyediting or editorial experience.

• Keen eye for detail and exceptional proofreading skills.

• Expertise in reviewing reports and miscellaneous multi-page publications.

• Expertise in reviewing financial and agency annual reports

• Superior oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of grammar

• and syntax.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Outstanding organizational skills.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities to include:

• Excellent writing skills, ability to analyze, compose, synthesize and condense text.

• Proficient in handling tight deadlines and conflicting schedules.

• Proficient in working independently, multitask and shift priorities.

• Excellent computer skills, including MS Word; experience with editing electronic manuscripts.

• Expertise in editing PDF files using Adobe Acrobat.

• Expertise with Chicago and AP Style manual.

• Expertise with writing, editing and style guidelines of the Government Publishing Office.

• Knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

• Expertise in assembling editorial style guide that adheres to GPO style and commercial best practices.

• Ability to work beyond normal working hours and (federal and religious) holidays when needed
