The CO+I IPA (Infrastructure Planning and Acquisition) Long-Range Planning Data Science team delivers Microsoft’s Long Range Infrastructure plan using state of the art econometric/ML models, risk simulations and business intelligence.

We are hiring an exceptional Economist to focus on creating econometric/ ML demand and capacity need models with focus on Microsoft Artificial Intelligence offerings. This position will focus specifically on the GPU forecasting to support the Artificial Intelligence needs for Microsoft and OpenAI. Additionally, they will have to be able to leverage their software skills to deploy in production for demand planning.

Responsibilities

  • Apply their subject matter understanding in quantitative analysis and econometric modeling, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop econometric/ ML models
  • Work closely with other Data Scientists and Program Managers to define and implement complex data engineering tasks to aid model building
  • Ability to develop E2E models in R/ Python – including data manipulation, model building and business applications
  • Connect to and build APIs for turning data science models into a full production system
  • Apply their subject matter understanding in quantitative analysis and econometric modeling, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop econometric/machine learning models
  • Understand fundamental business dynamics impacting demand, and develop automated statistical solutions for forecasting

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with running end-to-end statistical models in production, including but not limited to: Data engineering, resource orchestration and/or cross-system pipeline building
  • Experience with C#, SQL and NO-SQL databases
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) o OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) o OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field o OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Data Science software (R/Python), parametrizing, and running statistical model inputs/ outputs

Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
