This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Environmental Scientist/Geologist for our Novi, MI office. Be involved in projects with our Site Investigation and Remediation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
We seek candidates who are interested and knowledgeable in environmental characterization and remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, and sediments. Talented candidates with less experience will be considered. Preference may be given to applicants who are familiar with modern spatial data management and modeling methods, who seek to integrate and expand specialty environmental data management and modeling services for our clients on challenging sites. We also welcome individuals who enjoy working in a highly collaborative, supportive team with regular mentoring.
Your Impact
- Work and travel safely, follow company and site safety standards, maintain permits and training certificates
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Assist planning for sampling and monitoring programs, including efficient and practical data collection efforts to meet characterization and environmental management objectives
- Participate in training events, project meetings, and engineering team meetings
- Perform occasional field sampling as part of team
Minimum Qualifications
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Geology, or related degree.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120 preferred.
- The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience
- Recent graduate in an accredited Environmental Science or Geology, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program.
- Experience using ArcGIS, mobile data collection (e.g., QNOPY), Excel, and field sampling techniques
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
