The base hourly rate for this position is $24.00
Position Overview
This is a non-production position driving a truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This job will also serve as a backup in other departmental roles. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions, according to established operating procedures.
Hourly Rate: $24.00
The essential duties and responsibilities include:
Safety
  • Must know, understand, and perform all plant and departmental safety regulations and procedures and immediately reports any hazardous conditions
  • Performs safety observations and complete training assignments
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements
  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following: protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator
  • Must know and understand company policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employee conduct and attendance
  • Excellent attendance and attitude
Truck Driving
  • Loads and unloads truck
  • Maintains telephone contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions
  • Transfers Raw Materials and Calcium Silicate Insulation from offsite warehouse to plant site
  • Delivers loads to landfill and to offsite warehouse
  • Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water
  • Safely drives truck to and from destination
Operator
  • Check scales
  • Monitor level of DE tank and record findings
  • Operate DE Mill and related equipment
  • Performs other duties as directed
  • Set rail car hopper for off loading
  • Operate mobile equipment including forklift and sweeper
  • Capture samples for screening
  • Operate DE Mill control panel
  • Manage Sweco waste
  • Drive Spot Truck to move trash trailer on premises
  • Run moisture and grind test on samples
  • Responsible for operating in conformance with the ISO certification held by the Ruston facility
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience and Skills
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance. The employee will frequently engage in repetitive motions. The employee must frequently, lift, push or pull 50 pounds. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection and in certain areas may be required to where dust masks, gloves, respirators, or head protection.
