Job Description
Biocair is an expert in temperature-controlled life sciences logistics, having been providing pharmaceutical professionals, researchers and scientists with industry-leading cold chain solutions for over 35 years. We move time and temperature-sensitive shipments which really make a difference to people’s lives be that through vaccines or our growing Cell & Gene Therapy business and with approximately 580 employees we operate globally across more than 160 countries, via multiple locations and are opening more each year. The company has grown significantly in the last 5 years and this is the key driver for this role. There has never been a better time to join us and help Move Science Forward!

At Biocair our Drivers, or Transport & Packaging Specialist's as we prefer them to be known, are a truly vital part of our organisation. This is not just any driver role; it is not just any courier role. This is one of the most crucial roles in our company where what you do will make a true impact on someone's life. It is something you can be proud to be associated with. It is not about dropping 200 parcels in one day, it's about ensuring you transport a select number of time critical and temperature sensitive consignments (whether medicines or a sample from a cancer patient) in a safe, careful, and timely manner whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer care. This is a busy and fast paced role with customer care being at the centre of all you do.

Responsibilities will include:

  • The preparation and packaging of all specialist packaging and temperature-controlled consignments including Ambient Packing”; “Refrigerated Packing”; Frozen Packing; “Dry Ice Packing”; “Infectious Substances Packing”; “Dangerous Goods Packing” and Liquid Nitrogen ensuring all mandatory procedures are adhered to.
  • Performing duties to maintain a clean, tidy, and safe warehouse, ensuring all materials are stored in the designated areas as well as ensuring fridges, freezers and warm room temperatures are checked and remain within prescribed parameters and maintain accurate records thereof.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the vehicles as well as carrying out daily and weekly vehicle maintenance checks and perform simple maintenance tasks as required.
  • Building positive working relationships with other drivers, departments, and management to deliver excellent communication and customer service and working proactively to overcome problems and implement process improvements.
  • Ensuring all the correct documentation is accurately completed and processed with the shipment.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:

  • Ability to travel out of state if necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • A full, clean driving license.
  • Demonstrable experience of working well under time pressure as well as the ability to check and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability and knowledge to perform daily Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections.
  • Physical ability to move/lift shipments of up to 75 lbs.
  • Understanding of basic DOT rules and regulations needed to perform daily operational requirements.
  • Previous operation of cargo vans and non-commercial box trucks.
  • General driving knowledge of the airports and tri-state area.
