Director Of Life Sciences

Our greater Los Angeles based client is committed to the identification and development of effective treatment options for patients suffering from Follicular Lymphoma.

To achieve its mission, the Director of Life Sciences will lead the strategic, financial, and operational aspects of the life science philanthropic and investment portfolio. They will leverage their skills and experience to drive sound business development, investment, and relationship management decisions.

Strategy development, refinement, and management

• Set the direction and execute the strategic planning process, including articulation of annual strategic priorities.
• Serve as a strategic partner and thought partner to provide ongoing strategy development, process monitoring, and evaluation of function and core processes
• Design analytical model to define strategy metrics, progress metrics and setting of targets and goals. Continuously refine data, metrics, and models

Portfolio/financial management

• Advise on data-driven investment decisions
• Program management and reporting on progress and fit within overall portfolio and strategy
• Develop budgets and forecasts for both grant and investment pipelines
• Participation on Boards of portfolio investments or funded programs

Qualifications/Experience

• MD or PhD (life science discipline)
• Expertise in business development, setting and securing strategic partnership deals, and involvement in due diligence activities
• Strong relationships with academic institutions, non-profit foundations and biopharmaceutical companies
• 7+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience (direct employment or consulting relationships), including early-stage innovation, navigating large strategic commercial entities, and a familiarity with therapeutics development & commercialization pathways.
