Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Manager to lead their Disaster Recovery (DR) team. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust disaster recovery strategies, ensuring the organization's critical IT systems and data are protected from potential disruptions. The successful candidate will demonstrate expert knowledge of disaster recovery best practices, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define recovery objectives, RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives), and RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives) for different systems and applications.
- Lead and manage a team of disaster recovery professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the organization's disaster recovery plans, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend suitable disaster recovery technologies, tools, and solutions to ensure effective recovery in case of system failures or data loss.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and compliance requirements related to disaster recovery and data protection.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure that disaster recovery solutions and services meet the organization's requirements and standards.
- Coordinate mock disaster drills, exercises, and simulations to assess the effectiveness of the recovery strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify potential vulnerabilities and risks to the IT infrastructure and design appropriate disaster recovery solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Develop and oversee regular testing and validation of disaster recovery plans to ensure readiness for various disaster scenarios.
- Implement and oversee the deployment of backup, replication, and failover solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Maintain detailed documentation of disaster recovery plans, processes, and procedures, keeping them up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Generate regular reports and metrics to demonstrate the status of the disaster recovery program and the organization's readiness for potential disasters.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and skill development.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements related to disaster recovery.
- Proactively identify risks and vulnerabilities and work with security teams to implement necessary security measures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong technical expertise in disaster recovery technologies, data backup solutions, virtualization, and cloud-based recovery options.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
- Proven track record of successfully leading disaster recovery initiatives and managing teams in high-pressure situations.
- Experience with regulatory compliance requirements, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- X years of experience in IT management, with a focus on disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
