Job Description
The Director of Basketball Operations (DOBO) will report to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and provide operational support for all areas of the Stetson University women’s basketball program. The DOBO will be the program liaison to athletics administration for social media, program promotion and publicity, student-athlete housing and community outreach programming. The DOBO will coordinate team travel and assist with outbound recruiting travel for coaching staff and inbound recruiting travel for prospective student-athletes. In addition to planning all team meals during travel, the DOBO will also be responsible for scheduling post-game meals after home games. The DOBO will serve as the liaison with opponents for the scheduling of practice and shoot-around times; distribution of game video; and fulfillment of contractual commitments to visiting teams. The DOBO will be responsible for the coordination, promotion, and management of camps. The DOBO will perform other duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
  • Point of contact for visiting teams.
  • Responsible for travel budget and ensuring travel expenses remain in budget.
  • Oversee Women’s Basketball team travel:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Produces all travel itineraries for away games.
  • Oversight of Team Managers:
  • Coordinate team film exchange for both away and home games using Synergy
  • Oversee Women’s Basketball Budget:
  • Staff Liaison for facility scheduling with the SU Facility department as well as with men’s basketball.
  • Manage On-Campus Recruiting
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of women’s basketball team budget and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Preparing Official/Unofficial Visit forms in ARMS.
  • Coordinates meals for games.
  • Scheduling shoot around times for SU as well as opponents.
  • Organizing and scheduling on campus unofficial /official visits.
  • Assist with logistical aspects within the function of the women’s basketball program:
  • Responsible for developing a budget proposal for the annual budget process.
  • Manage WBB Team Schedule with Head Coach , also distribute team calendar to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates all travel for the Women’s Basketball team including hotel reservations, flight arrangements and transportation to and from the campus/airport and airport/hotel.
  • Manages and plans team events and functions. Coordinates women’s basketball alumni day.
  • Oversee Women’s Basketball Scheduling:
  • Designate assignments/game duties for practice and away games.
  • Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
  • Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
  • Produces hotel, bus proposals for submission to the Athletic Department Business office.
  • Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.
  • Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
Required Skills
  • Proficiency with Synergy and Ideo software
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Commitment to ensuring compliance with all NCAA and University rules and regulations
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare
Working Conditions: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Required Experience
  • 1-3 years in basketball operations or equivalent experience in office management/administration
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.
