Position Summary


Adventist Health’s Revenue Cycle Operations are jointly operated by Huron Healthcare and Adventist Health. Huron manages the operations and provides the Revenue Cycle leadership (managers and above are employed by Huron), while Revenue Cycle associates are employed by Adventist. Market leaders and hospital, clinic, and physician leadership across Adventist’s 21 hospitals and 300+ clinics, are key stakeholders for the Revenue Cycle Operations and a critical factor to ongoing Revenue Cycle success.


The Patient Financial Services Director provides onsite, operational and strategic leadership to plan, direct, evaluate and continuously improve patient financial services functions, specifically this position will focus on Cash Posting, self pay and some vendor management. Direct assigned staff in all aspects of strategic accounts receivable management, denials, cash posting, and follow-up operations. Build professional partnerships with client Chief Financial Officer and other hospital executives. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and guidelines. Monitor and interpret entity-specific reports related to department performance, staff performance and financial performance, ensuring appropriate action plans are executed. Manage escalations, identify trends and deficiencies and initiate corrective action to resolve. Communicate and coordinate with clinical and departmental staff regarding Patient Financial Services operations, including technology implementations affecting the department. Allocate resources cross-functionally, including people, data, processes and financial investments, to achieve optimal workflow and outcomes. Participate in budget preparation and cost control management efforts. Seek to understand disagreements, ensure all perspectives are heard and facilitate a plan for resolution. Delegate the work appropriately, provide clear expectations and follow up to ensure progress and overcome roadblocks. Identify associates and team priorities based on business direction and adjust when needed. Lead by example and share knowledge and experiences with associates and team. Create a respectful work environment where you advocate for your team, create accountability and recognize their accomplishments. Provide timely feedback to encourage success, ensure accountability, and connect opportunities for your associates’ development. Identify the right talent to achieve the desired results. Promote and build a diverse cohesive team to accomplish objectives and align associates' skills to fill gaps. This position is located at Adventist Health's Marysville, CA location.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develops and implements policy and procedure recommendations to meet the needs of the Health and Hospital System and its patients.
  • Oversees preparation of the budget for areas of responsibility and participates in the preparation of the annual Health and Hospital System budget.
  • Analyzes and identifies patient access service needs to determine appropriate action and make recommendations for problem resolution or procedural changes if appropriate.
  • Prepares annual statement of goals and objectives in collaboration with subordinates.
  • Develops professional and technical skill set in subordinate staff, and develop ongoing training and education materials for staff and patient education.
  • Ensures staff are aware and compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, local government, and private industry mandates.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and summarizes pertinent revenue cycle data components, and monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators.
  • Guides and directs subordinate supervisors/managers on patient financial services team
  • Identifies issues, risks, barriers and opportunities for improvement related to patient financial services area.
  • Supervises, trains, develops and motivates subordinate staff.
  • Performs related duties as required.


Required Skills


  • Team leadership experience including building talent, training, supervising, coaching/mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills required to synthesize complex data sets and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and trends to implement recommendations resulting in measurable performance improvement and successful organizational change .
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and client counterparts to understand business challenges, adapt implementation methodologies and approaches to ensure results align with client’s business objectives.
  • Effective and efficient organization and planning skills with the proven ability to manage complex multi-workstream performance improvement projects or multiple concurrent client engagements, while delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members.
  • Impactful and professional written and verbal communication set clear project team direction, develop key deliverables, escalate risks, and influence key stakeholders inclusive of client and internal senior leadership.


Qualifications


  • 6-8+ years of healthcare operations experience
  • Direct Supervisory Experience required
  • Patient Financial Services experience required, 2-3 in a leadership capacity required
  • U.S. work authorization required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)


The estimated salary range for this job is $110,000 - $150,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy and Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
