The Director of Online Graduate and Professional Education Programs for the College of Health leads the development of module-based, online non-credit professional certificate programs and/or courses, graduate certificates and degree and non-degree programs. The Director works closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and likely with an external platform (e.g., Edx) to develop educationally rigorous, in-demand, and scalable programs, such as a certificate and MS in regulatory affairs, a certificate in public health, an MS in population health. 1. Direct the development of on-line programs
  • Manage the appointment of these instructors
  • Support recruiting efforts
  • Review programs annually for course quality, student satisfaction and enrollment
  • Recruit instructors from within or outside of Lehigh to create asynchronous and lead synchronous components of the programs
  • In consultation with the Dean and the Leadership Team of the College of Health (COH), identify strategic priorities for on-line program development, based on market data and COH strengths
  • Manage the creation of course modules in collaboration with Library and Technology Services (LTS), The Office of Distance Education (ODE), the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) and Edx
2. Direct the development of non-credit professional certificate programs and courses from COH, in consultation with the Deputy Provost for Graduate Education (DPGE)
  • Coordinate with faculty, adjuncts, LTS, ODE, CITL, and Edx to develop the courses
  • Work with faculty to develop proposals for non-credit, stand alone, asynchronous courses designed to serve large enrollments on the Edx platform and submit to DPGE for approval
  • Recruit and hire appropriate instructors (adjuncts or GAs) to create lectures for the asynchronous courses
3. Interface with students
  • Provide advisement and support to students
  • Lead discussion sections for on-line programs (up to the equivalent of 4 instructional hours per week for two semesters during the academic year)
  • Design and execute periodic on-campus programming for student cohorts enrolled in on-line degree programs
  • Coordinate with Edx (or other contracted entity) on support for enrolled students
4. Manage budget
  • Track revenue, including growth of revenue over time, from on-line programs
  • Track expenditures related to on-line program delivery (adjunct stipends, costs of cohort campus visits, etc.)
  • Develop long-range revenue plan linked to enrollment and expenses
5. Data collection and assessment
  • Track student outcomes
  • Develop metrics for program success
  • Measure student satisfaction

Grade: 11-40; $79,060-$96,180

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Public Health, a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Five to eight years related work experience

University teaching experience and higher education administration experience preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional relationships

Assist with drafting all required documents for curriculum development and provide status updates on approved projects on request

Understanding of effective practice in online instructional design

Support faculty and staff in recommendations for program improvements and/or new program efforts

Experience developing and overseeing departmental budgets

Experience collecting and using data to measure effectiveness

Excellent computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
