Job Description
Position Summary: The Director of Warehousing & Distribution will be responsible for the overall operational administration and management of the companies distribution centers, 3PL operations and distribution of product. The incumbent will ensure company objectives are met, including implementing strategies for cost savings, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring inventory is accounted for and maintained for quality standards.


Essential Duties


Oversee the implementation of all warehouse contracts and operations, logistics, scheduling systems, delivery, and transportation, loading dock activity, product storage, pest control, emergency action plans, safety and standard operational procedures.


  • Reporting for business performances, via dashboards and other tools, of exact status of operations
  • Provides leadership, direction, and development of a team of direct reports. Use effective management skills to develop a high performing Logistics Operations team and foster a culture of team engagement. Ensure the Logistics Operations team maintains a high level of engagement and performance with all internal and external team members.
  • Conduct hiring and staffing for the Logistics Operations team. Propose organizational design, objective setting, resource allocation and ways of working within the team.
  • Develops processes to ensure an optimal customer experience with shipping.
  • Research and develop best-in-class KPI’s for Delivery Standards, Inventory management and Order Fulfillment metrics by channel
  • Conduct value stream mapping exercises in the supply chain and drive process improvements.
  • Drive & optimize inventory storage and throughput to reduce shrinkage.

  • Develop and execute strategies & plans to ensure successful product fulfillment.
  • Identify and resolve areas of cost savings opportunity in LTL, parcel shipping, reverse logistics, packaging, and warehouse management.
  • Develop near-term and medium-term roadmap for achieving said KPI’s, partnering with executive team to create capital budgets and organizational structure.
  • Facilitate ideas to enhance the customer experience, reduce total cost, and improve speed to customer.
  • Develop and maintain Warehouse budget.
  • Anticipate and identify issues and opportunities, taking action to ensure orders are processed timely and managed efficiently to customer satisfaction.
  • Manage carrier and material supplier relationships to ensure service level targets are meet.
  • Conduct value stream mapping exercises in the supply chain and drive process improvements.
  • Reduce damage in shipments to consumers


Qualifications


  • Knowledge of standard cost system for distribution system
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • 2-5 years of experience of ERP / SAP
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Previous experience within flooring or building materials is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • 7+ years relevant experience in transportation management (at national level), with multiple carriers
  • Goal driven, with the ability to work under pressure, with competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Bachelor’s Degree: business or logistics, preferred
  • 2-5 years in cost accounting
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation experience
