The Director of Technology Innovation will lead initiatives critical to the success of DaVita. These include:


  • Introduction and incubation of disruptive technologies that improve patient clinical outcomes in kidney care
  • Operating model changes to drive efficiency of care delivery and improve teammate job satisfaction
  • Process re-engineering for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis operations


The Director will lead a team of highly motivated individuals with backgrounds ranging from management consulting to process engineering to healthcare operations, and is expected to: (1) identify which work will add the most value, (2) effectively lead work streams with dependencies on many different business units, (3) collaborate well throughout the organization, and (4) communicate recommendations to senior executives on a regular basis.


Location: Denver, Colorado required – onsite (hybrid schedule)


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Identify and implement next-generation IT solutions, including those that incorporate the latest advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Embody DaVita’s core values every day
  • Determine how planned IT solutions will impact existing business processes and systems and partner with others to manage their integration
  • Ensure IT standards are established and solutions are compliant with policies and regulations
  • Lead effective evaluations of external vendors when appropriate
  • Assess business needs for technology solutions through direct interaction with business stakeholders
  • Take accountability for results and motivate teammates
  • Present comfortably and compellingly to senior audiences
  • Work closely with teammates in the clinics and develop relationships with operators and clinicians
  • Allocate team resources to ensure all timelines and deliverables are met
  • Understand enterprise IT solutions arechitecture and effectively determine the optimal IT strategy for any business need (i.e. which existing platform fits the new use case best, or whether a new platform must be created)
  • Up to 50% travel may be required at times; though typical travel is 5-10%
  • Proactively analyze opportunities to develop and improve the business through effective IT solutions
  • Act as a broker of IT services with both internal and external resources and negotiate IT services, service-level agreements (SLAs), and prices
  • Partner with the business in writing user requirements
  • Distill complex business problems and intricate IT considerations into simple, impactful stories
  • Develop and mentor teammates


Minimum Qualifications


  • Experience leading large-scale business transformation from concept through implementation with tangible impact on operating/financial performance
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships, influence others, and drive meaningful change that ‘sticks’
  • Undergraduate degree in technical area (e.g. computer science, engineering) required
  • 10+ years of total work experience in progressive roles with experience managing complex IT projects in medium to large corporate environments
  • Demonstrated proficiency leveraging machine learning or artificial intelligence to solve a key business problem preferred

Salary/ Wage Range


$121,200.00 - $177,900.00 / year


Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.   • If this position is located in a region with minimum wage requirements, we will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage: Denver: $17.29/per hour for nonexempt roles, Colorado: $50k/year for exempt roles.
