Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, the Director of Scouting and Video Operations oversees all game scouting and all video operations, including practice, game film and advanced scouting of opponents. Provides in-depth scouting reports and analysis, and oversees the Director Video and Creative Content. Assists the Head Coach and Coaching Staff in practice and game breakdown, as well as game strategies and practice planning.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Successful experience with video breakdown, video analysis and video scouting in the sport basketball, preferably at the NCAA Division I level. Experience using scouting software. Experience providing in-depth scouting reports and providing counsel to coaches about basketball strategies and plays. Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations essential. Strong and effective interpersonal communications skills, organizational skills and technology skills required. The ability to demonstrate high ethical standards, demonstrated integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of the sport are required. Ability to adhere to University, Departmental, ACC and NCAA rules and regulations is necessary. A valid NC drivers license required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

1 year of experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably. Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations, particularly as they apply to the sport of basketball. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must be able to move/lift 25 lbs or greater. May be required to naviate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume environment. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to work long hours, including nights and weekends as necessary. Travel required.
