Posting Summary
The Gund Institute for Environment seeks an experienced programmatic and financial leader to oversee operations and programs for a dynamic, transdisciplinary cross-campus research institute of more than 100 faculty, student and post-doctorate fellows from all academic units at The University of Vermont. The Director of Operations and Programs will work closely with the Director to develop and implement institutional strategy and priorities and oversee core functions across the institute. They will lead programmatic development and equitable implementation including funding competitions and professional development. They will manage and steward Gund’s budgets and financial resources through long-term budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, and coordinate across campus with the ABSC, OVPR, and UVM Foundation. They will foster community, belonging across the Institute’s many diverse communities and people, and provide mentorship and management of two staff (Office manager and program specialist).

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, including programmatic and operations leadership, budget management, and collaborative team-building across a program. Management and mentorship experience.

Desirable Qualifications
Desirable qualifications include related experience working in higher education or environmental/science organizations or other large, complex organizations; training and/or experience in fostering communities and programs that are diverse, equitable, inclusive, and create belonging; experience working with university/college students and/or faculty researchers; experience with environmental science.
