Position Title: Director of Membership Sales
Reports To: Founder/CEO
Salary: Commission-based
Job Type: Part Time
Position Location: Position will be a hybrid of remote operations with the expectation of in-person activities in the Dallas, Texas office when necessary/required.
Employee will receive compensation based on new membership, sponsorship and donation revenue attributed to their activities. Percentage of commission is negotiable.
Position Summary:
Women in STEM Leadership (WISL) is a global membership association representing women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. This position supports WISL’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain our organization. This position develops connections and business partnerships to grow our membership and secure funding through sponsorships and donations for in-person events in the Dallas, TX location.
This position’s primary focus is to increase the number of members through a variety of membership campaigns throughout the year and serve as the agency’s point of contact for recruitment-related activities and perspective. This position is also responsible for donations, corporate giving, annual appeals, and event sponsorships.
Qualifications:
•Requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience.
•Demonstrated management experience in fundraising, partnership, business development, and membership or related work.
•3-4 years of experience in development and/or membership recruitment or management.
•Excellent oral and written communications skills.
•Experience in using Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word.
•Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a team environment.
•Ability to work from home and in the offices as needed.
Primary Functions & Specific Responsibilities:
•Develop prospects and leads for new members across Dallas, TX and Globally.
•Make cold contacts daily through telephone, e-mail, and video calls, as well as follow up with warm leads.
•Leverage sales development techniques to reach membership goals.
•Maintain strong relationships with current members through phone calls, e-mails, video calls and in-person meetings, including assisting with membership concerns as needed.
•Actively solicit new members and donations tailored to each potential sponsor/donor.
•Monitor the number of memberships, donations, corporate giving and annual appeals (letters/emails sent to supporters throughout the year making case for them to donate) and produce reports for CEO and Board of Directors.
•Oversee donation and gift acknowledgement for corporate gifts and work with administrative staff to create reports of activities and results.
•Assist with the Annual Conference as needed including in-person conference attendance.
•Other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Sponsorship
Lead corporate sponsorship programs for WISL in the Dallas market.
•Develop and manage annual sponsorship campaigns and oversee development of fundraising tools.
•Oversee sponsor recognition and fulfillment of benefits.
•Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential sponsors.
•Provide leadership, tools, and training to support and motivate board members to achieve fundraising goals.
•Oversee online advertising sales to sponsors and prospects.
•Collaborate with communications and programs teams to ensure accurate messaging and exposure related to sponsorship benefits and advertising.
Fundraising
Lead charitable giving efforts for the Empower Girls in STEM mentorship program, and spring/summer coding camps.
•In partnership with the Programs team, assess current and future program offerings for funding potential.
•Develop and manage individual giving.
•Lead and manage annual fundraiser.
•Explore potential new fundraising opportunities.
•Manage and leverage platforms for giving.
Membership
Develop and implement strategies to maintain and continue to grow membership for the Dallas, TX chapter in all categories: individuals, firms, and allied professionals.
•Execute annual membership recruitment plan, with support from WISL program manager.
•Oversee annual membership billing and renewals, and monitor membership renewal rates.
•In partnership with the communications and programs teams, conduct member outreach and collect member feedback as needed to inform member recruitment and retention efforts.
•Collaborate with communications team for membership outreach and stewardship.
•Collaborate with programs team to communicate engagement opportunities available to members.
Finance
Support financial activities and processes.
•Review financial reports for accuracy for membership and fundraising activities.
•Develop and manage budgets for sponsorship, fundraising, advertising, and membership.
