Job Description

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and resource stewardship for the Business Unit's Manufacturing functions. This position is accountable for leveraging insights gained from multiple internal and external sources and assessments to drive strategic, timely, and impactful improvements and to manage structured change to our operating environment. Success in this position requires a deep understanding that collaboration is key to growing any business, especially in a complex and competitive industry. To be effective, this position requires an influencer who can be impactful without direct control.


  • Invest significant effort informing and supporting talent offense and aligning mindsets and skillsets important to the future of our business
  • Identify, develop, and execute new areas for cost savings, working capital efficiency, cash flow management and operational improvement
  • Ensure operations comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures relating to safety, security, and health
  • Oversee manufacturing budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements
  • Foster a culture, including ways of working and behaviors, that is congruent with our mission, values, and success model
  • Develop and execute a clear vision with sharply focused strategies that will ensure manufacturing operations support the overall business strategy and remain ahead of the competitive curve
  • Provide leadership and execution for all manufacturing programs and processes including quality, safety, cost management, controls, best practices, forecasting, strategic planning, reporting, and analysis
  • Ensure everyone is working against the right priorities, receiving coaching and feedback to promote performance, and experiencing exciting opportunities for growth
  • Take responsibility for the safety and security of the people who work in our business, the products we supply to customers, and the company’s physical assets
  • Drive simplification efforts within the sites, particularly those manufacturing activities “draining” the operations cost structure
  • Identify and implement ways of working that make safety and quality first, lean thinking and employee engagement a way of life. Focus will be on the process, not the individual
  • Identify current and new capital projects to expand capacity, produce products with enhanced performance specifications and margins, improve operating efficiency, increase plant reliability, and reduce costs
  • Presentations to fellow executive team members, the CEO, employees, and/or, the board of directors
  • Analyze and recommend manufacturing strategies related to current or new products and services which favorably impact the overall cost of goods sold and improve customer satisfaction and market share
  • Serves as a role-model and resource for others concerning products and services, policies and procedures, industry news, and changes in regulations
  • Develop short and long-term strategies to improve processes by eliminating non-value-added activities, reducing cycle time, and lowering costs
  • Serve as a role model and champion for employee engagement retention


REQUIREMENTS


  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, MS Project required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
  • Travel Requirements- 50%-75%
  • Experience leading successfully in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required
  • Minimum of 10 years-experience in operations leadership of a high volume, multi-site, continuous and discontinuous process manufacturing organization with responsibility spanning quality, manufacturing, and manufacturing/industrial engineering
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing and varied disciplines. TPS (Toyota Production System)
  • Experience overseeing P&L and financial metrics; data driven
  • Advanced degree in appropriate discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in people management role
  • Experience managing and building upon successful homegrown systems and solutions, while offering new ideas and plans for improvement
