GEMÜ North America is located in Atlanta, GA and employs approx. 120 employees.


Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CEO of GEMÜ USA the Director of Logistics and SCM will be responsible for the following areas: Logistics/Warehousing/Export Control, Import, SCM/Scheduling/Procurement. Currently the team is comprised of 12 direct reports. The position is newly created and intended to centralize the oversight of these areas of responsibility. The Director of Logistics and SCM will play a key role in global success of GEMÜ and interact with international counterparts and colleagues on a regular basis.


Job duties (including but not limited to):

  • Involvement in the planning project of the new plant for a logistic concept to become the logistic hub for North America incl. Canada and Mexico.
  • Provide high availability of GEMU products in North America with optimized plant inventory.
  • Support Safety and environmental issues.
  • Initiate and coordinate large projects (e.g., equipment investments and facility layout etc.)
  • Responsible for continuous improvement using process control data and LEAN techniques.
  • Ensure the on-time delivery of finished goods in accordance with established product manufacturing and quality documentation.
  • Responsible for reaching the SCM KPIs.
  • Assess the company’s current operational capability and develop an action plan to meet current and future demands in coordination with the CEO and the global operational team in Germany.
  • Manage planning / scheduling-, procurement-, warehouse-, incoming goods-, shipping personal.
  • Develop, implement, and manage workflows in a Supply Chain Management environment from order income through product generation and shipping.
  • Coordinate strategies with Sales, Engineering, and Quality
  • Implementation of the GEMÜ Operation Excellence Strategy.
  • Responsible for implementing the cross-docking concept.
  • Implement and develop a process for handling purchase order requisitions.



Qualification Standards:

  • BS degree, engineering preferred; Advanced degree is preferred
  • Knowledge of best practice logistic and SCM processes
  • Min. of 10 years of experience in manufacturing with 7+ years’ experience in management & leadership roles
  • German speaking language skills preferred but not required
  • Experience w/ Capital Expenditures is required.
  • Ability to develop and implement processes and systems within budget and schedule requirements
  • Travel up to 25% (Domestically and Internationally)
